MCAD Exams (70-305, 70-310, 70-299)

I have read the Phil Scott's WebLog about 70-310 exams and I am thinking of buying the Mike Gunderloy's exam guides.

I am starting do the MCAD and I would like to have your opinion about the books I must read. I will prepare myself to do the exams; i will not attend any course.

Is better the Mike Gunderloy's books ?

What you think about "Microsoft books (mspress)" ?

-MCAD/MCSD Self-Paced Training Kit: Developing Web Applications with
Microsoft® Visual Basic® .NET and Microsoft Visual C#™ .NET

-MCAD/MCSD Self-Paced Training Kit: Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Microsoft® Visual Basic® .NET and Microsoft Visual C#™ .NET

-MCSE Training Kit (Exam 70-229):: Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Database
Design and Implementation

What books you guys really recommend for this exams:

  • Exam 70-305
  • Exam 70-310
  • Exam 70-229

Thanks ;)

Note: I have choose (Visual Basic® .NET)

I haven't actually taken a look at the MSPress books, but the ones in the past haven't been the best books. Mike's books are easy to read and full of good material. I would definitely grab his books for the MCAD/MCSD side of things.

For the SQL Server exam, Professional SQL Server 2000 Programming by Rob Viera is an excellent book. It doesn't map directly to an exam, but if you understand what is in his book from cover to cover you'll not only ace the exam, but be one heck of a SQL Server wiz.

All I need is the MS books. They are straight-forward and really teach what you need to know for the exams.

P.S. I haven't read any others.

For you at the C# side of the story, your best bet would be the Kalani books. As for the SQL exam, rob vieira's seminal work is both a keeper and an exam savior.
