Community Server Hosted Edition Beta

Today we rolled out a new offering for Community Server: Community Server Hosted Edition.

With no download, no setup, and no configuration Community Server Hosted Edition enables organizations to create a professional web community in less than 5 minutes. We decided to start offering this about 3 months ago after hearing from a number of non-technical people/organizations that wanted to get a basic Community Server site up-and-running as quickly as possible.

Over the coming months we're going to roll-out a number of new capabilities on this site. For example, integrated email, new themes, as well as a few other tricks we have up our sleeves (including a potential free ad-enabled version).

IE7 is giving a lot of certificate warnings when going to https://communityserver.com/register/ (which I got to by going to the link above). If I add the www then it works without certificate errors.

Thanks for the heads up, Andrew. It was an issue with the wildcard SSL cert we were using. We've since setup a permanent redirect for http://communityserver.com to redirect back to www.

Again, thanks for letting us know!

Should be nice to have a developer plan for testing for $9 per month. 1 Blog, 1 forum, etc ... I know I'll take advantage of that service.

Cheers

Al

How about free with ads like something like wordpress does? While I think this is a very cool idea I don't you will get much interest on a personal level because not only are the packages a little too expensive but the resources are way to small especially the SQL db size and with the default setting of Community Server storing all files, photos and attachments in both the file system and the database this will exceed 200 mb real quick.
