Windows Media Player problem? here's a very good FAQ page

Bleh. I'm trying to watch an all important streaming video of some really important things (no, not that), and windows media player 9 only plays audio and no video. Coolness. Always wanted to know what its like to be blind, but after 5 seconds it gets really old. So now what? Google Google.
While I still have not found the answer I was looking for(maybe you know?), I came across this wonderful media player FAQ page:

[Update:
OK. I somehow fixed it. The solution was:
- open Tools-Options-Performance-Advanced
- uncheck “use video mixing renderer”

That's it. Go figure. It used to work, but now it does not. Never actually “checked” it myself.
Some windows problems are best left unanswered I guess...]

Why the hell is every video clip I play zoomed in to the center of the image, and I can't zoom out. I've tried just about everything. Please help if you have info or have had the same problem.

# re: Windows Media Player problem? here's a very good FAQ page

i am using windows media player 9 for XP. I have a problem in streaming audio content. from some stes for eg http://biz.yahoo.com/cc/
The player is giving some error like "problems connecting to media" but the same can be played in Media player 6. I am wondering why this happens. the same case is also shown by the embeded player. I am developing a software that to stream the content using media 9 series SDK so it's an urgent to fix the problem.

# re: Windows Media Player problem? here's a very good FAQ page

So I just encoded some video in a .wmv format, but when I go to play it in Windows Media Player I get the stupid animation on the screen, so there's no video, but all the audio. Any advice? Thanks.

Thanks Roy, for the tip on the WMPlayer and the tip on unchecking the rendering box... you saved me from the "Klappsmuehle".
