I'm glad you have a large readership, Roy. Those URLs are the ticket. Actually, in the two hours I spent investigating this, I did come across the slipstick page, but I didn't want to have to go into the registry. Since the URLs are posted on your blog, I figure its okay to go ahead and do it. :-) btw, I tried the forward--yesterday and again today--both from Outlook 2003 and OE, and darn if I can get it to work. The attachment is gone, gone, gone on receipt. Thanks for posting on this.

Dave. Weird. I remember it working for me. Must be some sort of new service pack or something of the sort... oh well. I'd advise you to just install the freeware add-in from SLovakTech. WOrked for me flawlessly and for the company I worked for at the time too.

I'm having a problem with blocked URLs and email addresses in Outlook 2003. When I type a link (either URL or mailto) into the main body of the email, and then send it, the recipient who clicks of it is greeted with the advice BLOCKED::mailto: yattah yattah....or even BLOCKED::BLOCKED::mailto:

The "error" messages with the single BLOCKED:: will often still allow a mailto: link to generate a preaddressed email window, BUT, the BLOCKED::BLOCKED::mailto: error messages (which, incidentally, appear when the cursor is hovered over the link) result in a window opening in IE, providing the well known, "Page cannot be displayed" message.

I have no idea what is causing Outlook 2003 to block the links and email addresses I type directly into the email window. I have tried inserting them the long way, by going to "insert - Hyperlink..." and typing the addresses into either URL or mailto categories, but to no avail...they still end up blocked at the other end. For the record, I am sending these links to many people, sometimes BCC, but sometimes direct, and they all suffer the block, regardless of whether they're using Outlook or Express.

I've sought the advice of a number of Guru's (or is that Guri?) but all are stumped.

I tried the Forwarding trick to no avail in Outlook 2003. I hate it when big brother protect us from ourselves.

I overcame the problem by simply importing the message into Outlook Express (which give you the power to unblock attachments). Since I don't use OE otherwise there is no real security threat, but I can still open the attachments I know are safe. Joel
