HL7 Factory Project is an interesting concept. But our real world experience shows that the options for HL7 is more a real time requirement and typically with in a private network. Hence the option of using web services rather than mandating web services would give more flexibility for implementation. In cases of more real time and exclusive requirements TCP/IP with binary formats could be more efficient.
