I tried to follow the link for AVG free antivirus software which brought me to Girsoft main page and from there I couldn't figure out how to download the free version. After googling with [avg free], I was able to find this link: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1. Here you can download free antivirus and anti-spyware. Enjoy.

AVG antivirus is great, and so is their AntiSpam prog. I'd add a very important tool - Disk Imaging. After you finish the installations you need to make an image so if something bad will happen, you'd be able to fix it in no-time. Acronis TrueImage is my choice. I'd do partitioning, too. Put system and program files on C, while all the document will be on D:, so restoring the image to drive C won't kill the documents. You'd want to change "My Documents" to point to D:\Docs, and the temporary folders too (so the image won;t have crap on it). Now install a DVDR/W and tech how to do weekly backup for the docs, and that's all.

I've done the Limited user trick about 2 years ago for my Mother and it has worked great. No problems at all. Actually the only issues that I've had are dealing with software installations that aren't non-admin friendly (or that only install for the currently logged in user). But in those cases I've just gotten away with telling my mother that her computer is incompatible with that software and she can't use it :)

I like this post, but I can see here two problems: 1) It works great too for my mom but my sister & brother need also eMule & ICQ so they need better privs, but it ain't mean that they have better understanding about downloads and computers. 2) I tried before the remoting and so on, the problem started when they have network problems\crashes such as modem disconnected (I also have router at home so it is even worst)
