I was in Ghent for a week about a couple of years ago in November. It's a lovely city, but around 6pm the streets are empty and the shops are closed and before midnight all of the "late night" places are closed. Kind of depressing, but lovely in it's own unique way. :)
The chapel and castle are nice places to visit if you like the tourist attractions. Very nice view of the city from the castle's tower.
