"The New"

Oh what a day today has become.

I've been using a 1.6 GHz P4 with 768 MB of the PC133 ram for well over 2 years now. Recently, as I've started to do more and more presentations such as webcasts, I've been starting to rely in Virtual PC. When you've got a Windows 2003 Server with SQL Server and Whidbey and Office and all that good stuff running INSIDE your every-day desktop, it quickly becomes evident that power is a great thing and 2 year old hardware wasn't going to cut it anymore.

Luckily my pal Ken just bought the parts to build himself a new box and I offered to buy his old one. I ended up receiving his entire old computer with the exception of the hard drives. Ken's generosity is truly amazing and I'd like to publicly say "THANK YOU!".

On the way back to my place I picked up two 80 gig SATA drives and set them up in a RAID0 configuration in Ken's old box. So far the computer is performing AMAZINGLY and I'm pretty happy. I gained myself 1 GHz in processing speed and went from 768 megs of the PC133 ram to 1 gig of something called "DDR333" (if anyone can explain that please feel free to do so).

New computers are such fun!
