New Trek Movie

Published 28 August 04 07:56 AM | russnem

I recently read a quote from Rick Berman (the producer of Star Trek) that the next movie will most likely deal with a time period BEFORE their show "Enterprise" takes place. I find myself thinking "When is this guy FINALLY going to learn? WILL he ever learn?" It's time for new blood. Nobody wants to hear what happens BEFORE the original series. Come on. Star Trek was created to show us (by example) the world we can hope to live in, not how we got there.

Anybody out there got any ideas for the next Star Trek movie? I'd love to hear them. Especially before Berman buries the franchise under so much embarrassment that it can never be recovered.

personal fav:

in ST: TNG there are the seeds of a whole new "Next Generation"

Wesly Crusher and "The Traveler"

Traveler reveals to (was it Picard ?) that Wes has a deep understanding of Warp and subspace that will lead to the next step in human evolution.

Now done wrong it would stink.

done right I could be a touch of Dune in some ways.... and would go back to the
"To boldly go where no man has gone before..."

Thanks to Geoff for pointing out that it is Rick Berman (not Mark Berman, a guy I used to work with).

nnooooo! no wesly and the traveler... they both were extreamly annoying. If you were going to do those two, bring along troi, then you could have wesly doing his goofy smile, the traveler speaking about metaphysical mumbo-jumbo and troi say 'oh captain, i feel somthing!!!' THAT would make a great movie....

=)

seriously though, It migh tbe interesting to see a joint ds9/voyager movie. Or how about some of the changlings break off from the link and order their own little part of the dominion to attack again? that would be kinda tight. I'm also curious how the alpha quadrent rebuilt after all hte fighting. I like enterprise, but I LOVED ds9 and really really liked voy.

Too late!

Actually, I liked DS( too, and there were some Voyager episodes that were good, too. I'd love to see a DS9 movie.

I agree with the DS9 stuff before it got all mushy. There was so much space and technology unexplored with DS9 and Voyager. It would be cool to get these two series working together either on a series or in movies.

We need a new series, as you said, no one cares how we got here, lets see where we can go.

I want to hear how we got there :-) Maybe because I don't like the original series :-)

Find two actors that are in their early 20s that look and act as much like Kerk (William Shatner) and Spock (Lenard Nemoy) and have them be Kerk and Spock during their Academy days, coming up together and having adventures, etc. They could even get a ship, get on one or something and fight some aliens, etc. Then take it from there. I loved the old series and my main proble with the all the new Star Trek series is that they are un interesting. I see lots of good stuff on TV, why is it that the Star Trek writers can not come up with good stuff like in the origional series. However, the original series was so good because of the actors, the way they worked together, team work, dedication to their cause, etc. I watched all the other serises and the actors stink. Enterprise is the best so fat but I do not know how much more of the Vulcan neuro pressure seens that I can take.

burmen sux  i agree no one wants a b4 series everyone wants  to see more technology more stuff beyond our imaging (where no man has gone before) burmen is just burying the franchise for good

No Voyager or DS9 or especially enterprise.. Each of these watered down shows cant hold a candle to TOS or TNG.  Notice the theme that keeps reappearing and selling..... The Borg. This was the only concept that would sell the franchise, the rest was just piss. Why you ask?.. check out Battlestar Galactica -by far the best SCI FI in 15yrs. people like to see other people get their asses kicked - simple as that - good science, fireworks -- no whiny love scenes or navel gazing.
