Oh, Pah-leeeeze!

Today I saw an online petition designed to preserve Visual Basic 6, COM, and a bunch of those old, out-dated related technologies on this web site.

I have to say that an effort like this seems quite rediculous to me, very much analogous to intentionally keeping around Windows Me or Windows 98.

We live in a world where progress is made. That's just how it works. I highly recommend Rocky Lhotka's blog entry on this topic. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Huummmmm. Let me see. You are telling me that we should throw away 7 years and 6 developers code worth it. Well I guess this is a lesson. Don’t wait until the new technology come out of Beta and use it at soon is available.

Hmm. Don't recall ever telling anyone to throw away 7 years and 6 developers, or that they should jump right on top of new technologies as soon as possible.

What I AM saying that it seems wrong to me to support old technologies indefinitely.
