Bioinformatics and Microsoft .Net Technologies Gap

Here is the few flashback of Bio informatics potential information and the Technologies Gap. Please have a look on it and let me know if you need any more information. If you dig little more, you can easily judge the the potential of playing the Microsoft .Net Game and it's related fields.

Few nuggets..!
"..One corporate representative estimated that approximately 60 percent of his time as a bio informatics group leader was spent searching for individuals with the right mix of skills in the mid-1990s. The common reason for observing skills mismatch was difficulty in finding candidates with an adequate understanding of biology and computational skills who also had prior industry experience..."

"With current revenues at around $ 840 million, Scope forecasts the bioinformatics market to become more dominant in the future and increase to around $1.82 billion by 2007. The growth rate is expected to stabilize at 17 percent per annum until 2007 as the sequencing of the human genome nears completion in 2003. Over the past years, bioinformatics has gained acceptance among number of markets especially in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, industrial biotechnology and agricultural biotechnology (agbiotech)."

Bioinformatics and Microsoft .Net
".... bioinformatics is a field of research that has undergone a rapid explosion in terms of the numbers of tools and techniques that it has produced. While much of this progress can be attributed to the adaptability and flexibility of open source technologies such as Linux and Perl, it is important for bioinformatics professionals to consider that disseminating their bioinformatics tools to users can be as critical to scientific progress as developing new tools. A key way to facilitate the widespread dissemination of bioinformatics applications to biologists will likely be the development of an open sourced .NET class library to serve as framework for Windows-based bioinformatics applications...."
