Interested in helping us fill in some of these offices? :) We're currently looking for developers/senior developers seasoned in ASP.NET & C#. (If you live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, you could join Rob, Jason, Terry, Mike, and others at our offices). If not, please still send us your information - as we're all about productivity, even with remote work! If you are interested, please send your resume in word/pdf format to careeers at telligentsystems (dot) com. Experience with ASP.NET 2.0 is a plus. Also, please send some examples of your projects, experience, etc...
I'll post a full job description in the coming days (once I get moved in ;) ).
By default, after installing CommunityServer, you'll notice that it is configured to host multiple blogs/galleries, which is great for organizations or hosting websites. Well, what about the individual user? Someone who wants to have their own blog, gallery on their own website... is CommunityServer easy to configure for this user?
Absolutely! One of CS' team members, Ken Robertson blogged on exactly how to set this up, and it's relatively easy, with a customized siteurls.config file (download link in the article).
The follow-up to Ken's post is located in the following CommunityServer forums post.
Well, as announced by Rob, our new Program Manager Alex Lowe, and the CommunityServer.org Forum Post:
We are pleased to announce that our (Telligent’s) Flagship Product, CommunityServer 1.0 has been released!
Check out our integrated Forums, Blogging, and Gallery engine all rolled up into a single package.

If you're planning to attend
TechEd 2005 and you are interested in learning more about
Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, please plan to attend the "Architecting MOM Solutions" talk. A real good friend of mine Cameron Fuller, Principal Consultant for
Geniant is delivering this session, and it promises to be a very good one. He's an entertaining speaker and overall great guy. This talk should reach a wide audience, including developers, architects, and all levels of infrastructure.
Check out Ohad's recent post, showing all the upcoming MSDN webcasts featuring the recently released Enterprise Library.
I also noticed that the MSDN Events & Webcasts site was updated with a nice, simple layout & now offers RSS feeds for each category (so you can be notified as soon as more events are added!) Great job guys!

Be on the lookout for the latest virus to hit the MSN Messenger world:
http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bropia.m.html
From the above site:
W32.Bropia.M is a worm that spreads via MSN Messenger and connects to a Web site to display an image on the compromised computer. The worm may also disable many functions on the compromised computer, including the Task Manager and Registry Editor.
From Jeffrey's post:
If you get an IM message (even from someone you know) that reads something like this: LOOK! http://members.chello.nl/g.geurts1/handcuffs.XYZ. . . . Don't click on it. If you do, you'll need to clean it before rebooting because it adds an executable to your run-once list.
I'm close to rebuilding my Dell Latitude C840 laptop, after buying a new 7200rpm Hitachi hard drive. With this build, I'm seriously considering installing just the basics on the laptop (Office, Firefox, Project, WinZip, BlogJet, SharpReader, etc... and Virtual PC). Then, I'm considering using VMs for my development environments (VS 2003, VS 2005, etc...). I like the idea of having a low-serviced build on the laptop, and allowing the VMs to do all my design/development work. I'm not doing much mobility development (issues with mobility/emulator in VPC/VMWare), so that shouldn't be an issue. For me, when the laptop takes FOREVER to load up all the services related to development, when I want to simply check email, is a pain!
For all my VS 2005 work, I have a "LowPowerMode.bat" batch file, which executes a bunch of "net stop" commands against many of the services installed on my machine (SQL, MSMQ, etc...) just to free up enough memory to run VMs well (I have 1 GB installed). In addition, I am running VMs on other physical hard drives (not the install drive), which should help performance as well.
My questions for you:
Are you currently running all your development in VMs? If so, are you happy with the performance? OR do did you try it and had to revert back? Any specific issues that caused problems?
Scott Burnside's recent espn.com article says it best (at least from my feelings...) All this mess, over a single (albeit HUGE) issue.
As many people have reported, the next step will be for the NHL to work with the labor commission to receive an impasse, and open the door for replacement players.
Both sides need to give, and that sure didn't seem to happen over the past 5 months. Such a shame for such a great game...
Update:
Even better article on cnnsi.com, that states that NHL Commish Bettman & NHLPA Rep Goodenow should resign or be fired!
Check out Dan Fernandez' (Program Manager for Visual C#) recent post, TechEd 2005 Sessions Announced. The sessions look great! I wish I could make it, but we'll be expecting a new addition to our family at the same time (why didn't I check my geek calendar first ;) )
Interested in attending TechEd 2005 in Orlando, June 5-10, 2005? Here is some information on registration. Register before April 15 and receive $300 off the registration costs!
Update: Check out Rob Caron's Post on Team System Sessions at TechEd 2005 in Orlando , which lists the TechEd 2005 Sessions related to Team System.
