Are there any plans to update ASP.NET Starter Kit to ASP.NET v2? Club Starter Kit is very limited.

    Hi Khurram,

We'll definitely be releasing more ASP.NET Starter Kits over time (I think we have at least 10 more planned).

Note that the above CMS solution is a very rich application that provides a lot more than a starter kit ever will.

Other very complete solutions I'd recommend checking out include DotNetNuke and Community Server. Both can be downloaded and used for free and support ASP.NET 2.0.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

I have checked the both; but none of them still using ASP.NET v2 in its full; and its majorly because of backward compatibility reasons.

Looking forward for the other planned starter kits; hoping that there is one like IBuySpy...

Then you should try umbraco, which includes a installer. Only thing to do is manually setup the connectionstring

I think by offering a CMS like I BUY SPY as a starterkit, will not be a competition to DotNetNukes, since they are supported with many, and this I BUY SPY will allow any individual to extend as per his requirement. There is also not a single starterkit for a fully developed Classifieds. Classifieds is the most wanted and used thing on web now. Hopefully a developed starterkit for classifieds is welcomed

Kindly take the pain to tell me the difference between a CMS and a starter kit. And I need a free CMS for asp.net 1.1. Where can I get one.

    Hi Pokrate,

CMS stands for "Content Management System", and typically refers to a site that provides online content authoring.

The Starter Kits on ASP.NET are typically more focused for developers and requires that you code html and/or vb/c# to customize them.  This gives you more power, but if all you want todo is get a site up you might want a CMS solution.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
