Match.com on ABC prime time documentary "Hooking Up"
Match.com (my employer for the last 5 years) is being featured as one of the tools that
11 women use on ABC prime time to find dates online. It's a mini series called "Hooking up" that's on Thursday's at 8:00 PM CST.
It's incredibly surreal to see a site that you helped build from the ground up in C# and ASP.NET being used in a real life documentary on prime time. Currently our web farm gets over 45 million page hits per day and we have over 15 million members, all searching for love. We are seeing some pretty good traffic spikes after the series runs and the web farm doesn't skip a beat. I'll talk to the systems guys and see if I can post some more numbers...
On a side note, I got new glasses today and the lady that I bought them from told me her best friend just got married to a guy she met on Match.com...just another reason why my job is so fulfilling.
