DocumentDB - NoSQL Database As A Service On Azure
Microsoft Azure team has announced a new NoSQL database named "DocumentDB". DocumentDB is a fully managed, massively scalable, NoSQL database as a service on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This is a right movement from Microsoft as the existing Table storage was not effcient comparing to other NoSQL databases available in the market. In my initial evalution, DocumentDB is the most feature rich NoSQL databse comparing to many popular NoSQL database. In DocumentDB, we can write Trigger, Stored Procedure and User Defined Function (UDF) in JavaScript.

Building and Deploying Windows Azure Web Site with Node.js and MongoDB by using Microsoft WebMatrix
In this blog post, I will demonstrate how to build a web app with Node.js and MongoDB, and will deploy it on Windows Azure as a Windows Azure Web Site. Firstly, I will create a web site with Node.js, Express.js, Mongoose and MongoDB. Then I will create a MongoDB database on MongoLab, which is a MongoDB as a service hosted on Cloud, and finally deploy the web app to Windows Azure Web Site. The source code for the demo app is available on Github at https://github.com/shijuvar/NodeExpressMongo

Building a Simple HTTP API using Node.js with MongoDB and Mongoose
In this post, I will demonstrate how to build a simple HTTP API using Node.js with NoSQL database MongoDB. This demo app will be using MongoDB object modeling tool Mongoose to connecting with MongoDB from the Node app. This demo app is a very basic level JSON based HTTP API which is not following any better practices and mainly created this sample demo for demonstrating Node.js and MongoDB using with Mongoose Node package.

My NoSQL Session at Microsoft Community Tech Day
I did a presentation titled “NoSQL databases in .NET Apps” at Microsoft Community Tech Day, Kochi organized by Kerala Microsoft User Group. The session was an introductory talk on NoSQL databases and demonstrated how to use NoSQL databases in .NET applications. I have given a demo on NoSQL approach using RavenDB and ASP.NET MVC. The slide for the demo available at http://www.slideshare.net/shijucv/nosql-database-in-net-apps and the source code is available from http://ravenmvc.codeplex.com

How to work RavenDB Id with ASP.NET MVC Routes
By default RavenDB's Id would be sperated by "/". Let's say that we have a category object, the Ids would be like "categories/1". This will make problems when working with ASP.NET MVC's route rule. For a route category/edit/id, the uri would be category/edit/categories/1. You can solve this problem in two ways
Solution 1 - Change Id Separator
We can use different Id Separator for RavenDB Ids in order to working with ASP.NET MVC route rules. The following code specify that Ids would be seperated by "-" rather than the default "/"

NoSQL with RavenDB and ASP.NET MVC - Part 2
In my previous post, we have discussed on how to work with RavenDB document database in an ASP.NET MVC application. We have setup RavenDB for our ASP.NET MVC application and did basic CRUD operations against a simple domain entity. In this post, let’s discuss on domain entity with deep object graph and how to query against RavenDB documents using Indexes. You can download the source code from http://ravenmvc.codeplex.com
