Less Talk, More Rock

Is Crappy Service Really Worth the Food?

I hate using my blog for rants, but this is a special rant …

We’ve been eating at Sushi Momo in Fullerton, CA for quite some time now.  Hands-down, they have the best sushi in Orange County.  The caveat to their great food is their service – which is possibly the worst service I’ve ever had at a restaurant.  This was especially notable tonight.  We arrived at the restaurant at 5:00 PM, just as they opened for dinner.  We were the first to be sat.  At 5:15 PM – not having seen the hostess or any server since being sat – I started to get frustrated.  This was mostly because I saw the same hostess that sat us serving drinks to the 20 other people who had arrived just after us.  At 5:25 PM – still not having been seen by ANYONE at the freakin’ restaurant, I decided to give up on the joint.  While leaving, my party delivered some expletives to the stupid hostess, which incited some punks at the sushi bar to speak up.  To spare arrest, and possible jail time, we decided to deliver yet another few colorful remarks and depart.

If you enjoy really good sushi, and like to be treated like shit, then visit Momo.  However, if you like to be treated like a human being (or even like family), then try Sato Sushi – also in Fullteron.

Oh come on, worst than the service we had in the sports bar at the Haytt in New Orleans? Cause if it was worse than that, DAMN! ;)

To Demian's point, I would have to say that Kabby's at the Riverside Hilton in New Orleans has the worst service in the US. The freakin' server asked what we wanted, and before we could answer, she walked to the table next to us to take their order! What the hell is wrong with some people!

And it wasn't just that one time - in the 7 days I stayed in that hotel we went to Kabby's like 5 times and the service was bad each time. Though once, it was just pretty bad!

Granted, the service in the main room--esp during busy times Fri & Sat evenings--is bad.  But if you sit @ the counter, you get Suzuki-san's undivided attention.

Go back & sit @ the counter.

AMEN! Wow!  Some things never change.  I just had a similar experience.  Too bad I didn't read your post before I went today...Although I must respectfully disagree that this is the best sushi around...try Kiku in Huntington Beach, or Subuchuro in Costa Mesa off of 19th next door to In & Out.

If I'm going to get shitty service, the food better be second to none...Sushi Momo has way to many competitors with just as good, if not better sushi to be treating customers like crap!

Momo's is gone.  The whole center where it's at is being torn down.  Just called and their number is disconnected so I don't think they moved the location.  Food was great...but try Asahi Sushi in La Habra.  (Beach & Imperial)  Have the T-6 roll w/ the baked spicy tuna on top.  Nothing like it.  Quite possibly my most favorite thing to eat in the whole world!
