My back home story (Which lead me choose or to be in IT)
Who read articles written by me, saw me in aspnet forums, read my bolg or came to my .Net classes (some are free and other at some institutions) etc generally used to ask me how I end up in choosing IT and my answer used to give interest to them and this week some one told me to blog the info to share with others!
I would think every one has a reason to choose the path on what they want to be! From early child hood days onwards I always used to think on how to do forming better or how can be a best teacher like my dad and I also used to wonder about the creation, nature etc (As my grand father always used to tell bed time stories on stars, humans existence on earth!).
After my 10th grade my dad sent me to BASIC language/computer fundamentals summer class in my summer holidays! On 3rd day of the class teacher started teaching me about 1, 0 and how binary system works. That totally diverted my mind to IT as this concept is almost similar to my native language poetic grammar!
If you want to know more about it and how it’s related to my native language here it is!!
My native language is TELUGU (It’s one of the south Indian language). In that poetic grammar each letter is represented as a high node or low node. High node letter is represented as U (They call Guruvu) and low node letter is represented as I (They call Laguvu). It’s like on and off (1 and 0). So if we relate it to 1 and 0; 1 can be as U and 0 can be as I. Yes low node letter will be represented as I, but in computers it’s as 0 (off).
For example if you take my name in my language it can be divided into 6 bits (6 letters), and each bit can be represented as either U or I. It will be as show below.
Is it interesting!! Yes, this concept is at least 5,000 year’s old one (As of my knowledge, others say it’s older than that)! Wait, not at over. To get the meaning of the sentence or to find the result, they (who know this logic) will divide the sentence into 3 bit format! Each 3 bit has one symbol, by basing on that they will know the meaning! My name can be divided into 3 bit format as below.
Is it interesting??? A 5,000 years old language has a 3 bit (3 letters) notation and each bit (letter) is represented in similar format as 1 or 0 (U or I). You might some times think who is still using 3 bit code?
recent MARS rover some of the message is in 3 bit format (

Wait it’s not over, if you dig into deep, you will know little bit more interesting information. After dividing the sentence into 3 bit format and by basing on the bit combination, they will name the sentence or they will give one code to the sentence. Here is the interesting part. Each code has one notation (frequency)! I always used to wonder why they had this kind of complicated 1, 0 logic and depending on the combination giving one name (related to frequency) to it. Probably who ever created this logic in TELUGU language might thought if any one doesn’t know the language, they might understand by listening the frequency (or combination of high (on) and low(off) pitch patters of words). If that is the case, 5000 years back only they know that they can talk to others who don’t know the language by representing in1 and 0 formats (on and off signals) and in some frequency!!!
Any way, I guess I kind of little bit deviated from the main topic. Yes, certainly that 1,0 (Binary) relation to my native language made me to think of choosing IT for this life J
Yes, initially I choused IT on interest and started contributing from my side, but by this modern money world, unimaginable dead lines for the projects for their quarterly increments, 1 to 5 scale of rating to get better salary in the coming year/months, I was really not sure I was really doing some quality/meaningful work to the IT growth.
Some times I used to wonder human is soooo intelligent specie (as of our limited knowledge in the universe), how come he/she is caught up by the word Money by forgetting the reality of life (As human is the one created Money/Share market etc concepts, but some how now a days human is pulled by the money gravity from real life!) J
I started this blog for sharing .Net knowledge! As people wanted to know about me and how I came to IT, I had written this! Hoping this column did not waste your time and hoping it would give some interest to you in knowing more about my Native Language J Also just to mention currently I live in Virginia (USA).
