Nice work from Dave Burke

After Dave moved from weblogs.asp.net, he implemented the DotNetNuke, nGallery and .Text into one working system. I took a quick look at his work and I love it. I am so impressed that I downloaded DotNetNuke and installed it on my local system and it works like a charm. Now I am considering too, to move my blog and to go with my own domain. Once again nice work pal.

There's a lot to be said for going with applications already written and adding a bit of code here and there. :-) Hey, Pal, I'm looking forward to you having fun like I'm having with my own site. Let me know if I can help!

P.S. Congrats on 100 posts!

Thanks pal! I will definetly contact you when I encounter some problems. I read that you used three different databases for all three applications. I will try to get this working with only one database. Any thoughts about that pal?

I still think its best to break them up, but when I was considering using a single database I updated the nGallery SQL database setup script and renamed all of the stored procedures and tables by adding an NG_ to distinguish them from dnn or .text objects. The only other place you'll need to change would be in the SQL Provider data layer class in the stored procedures called, which shouldn't be a big deal. The script is at http://dbvt.com/x/blog/2004/ngallery_dnn.zip if you're interested. The script creates everything correctly, though there may yet be bugs in the stored procs, which should be easy to root out if you encounter them. I made the decision to go with multiple databases before thoroughly testing the script.

If you do use this script, let me know how it goes. Any updates or edits to the script may be helpful for others.
