  • Where did this come from?

Ok, I think this file came from a link on weblogs.asp.net, but I can't find the link, just the file. I have a file called PerfNScale2-27-04.zip. Inside the zip file is a bunch of good info about how to create applications with .NET that scale up and perform well. The problem is that I can't find where...

  • I am tired of being marketed to...............

I saw where someone posted a mention of the MS article “A Guide to Building Enterprise Applications on the .NET Framework.” This article is horrible. It provides no value what so ever to developers. I, as a developer and someone that builds applications that have large numbers of users and...

  • Meatballs rolling across the floor

If you can't tell, I have walked into a project that used every non-standard approach to development I have ever seen, including attempting to create their own version of an ASP.NET file parser and execution envivonment. All I can really do is some “Meatball Surgery” to attempt to shore up...

  • You are not smarter than Microsoft

No matter how much you want to think it, you are not smarter than Microsoft. Do not think that you can create a better version of ASP, ASP.NET, VB, C#, Office, or whatever over a weekend. If you work for Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, or another tech company, than yes, you can do your own thing. If you don...

  • Use Standards - Do Not Recreate the Wheel.

Do Not Use your own format when a standard format will work . Using your own format, control, or whatever will most likely cause problems versus using an industry standard control or format. 3rd Parties will support standards. They will most likely not support your one-off format. Wally

  • Looking cool may make you look stupid.......

I have spent the last couple of months pulling my hair out on a project. This project is an example of how not to architect a project. First lesson: Do NOT try and create your own version of ASP.NET . You are not as smart as Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, IBM, or other technology companies. You do not have...

  • I hope we don't lose you.............

I have no idea what is really going on with regards to blogs and Microsoft, but I just want everyone to know that I hope we don't lose any bloggers from Microsoft. There is an article at Microsoft-Watch.com . So far, corporate has yet to weigh in on its growing cadre of bloggers. But that may be about...
