  • Why did I choose WordPress as my future blogging engine?

Good question, I’m glad you asked! Over the past couple of years I’ve quietly evaluated several blogging engines from the large co-hosted ones like WordPress, Blogger, MSN Spaces, MySpace, and the SixApart offerings. I’ve also looked at the various self-hosted options like Community Server, dasBlog,...

  • This feed has moved!

This is my first post from my new blog digs over here at WordPress. The first post at a new URL seems like such an auspicious occasion that it is a little unfair that most people have to use it up telling people where to point their feed aggregators (hint: my new feed is here). I [...]

  • Nordic Track Book Club Review: Naked Conversations

Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel is the first book on blogging I read and most likely will be the last. I felt no compelling need to read any book about blogging, but Scoble has impressed me so much over the last couple of years that if I was to read one book on the subject I would...

  • Motorcycle blogging from San Diego to the Arctic Circle

As Phil mentioned earlier, my brother Brian is blogging his motorcycle trip from San Diego, California to Deadhorse, Alaska . Blogging a long trip is getting routine, but what's interesting is that Brian's actually blogging from a computer / webcam / GPS setup that's mounted on the motorcycle . Brian...

  • Community Server and blog APIs

It seems like Community Server can work with blog APIs, at least that is how I read this forum post . Was this installed with weblogs.asp.net upgrade? I would really like to be able to use our Performancing Firefox extension rather than log into this here control panel, I am far more likely to post often...

  • Attention - profile first, recommendations afterwards

What do I mean by Attention? The concept of Attention (as it relates to the internet) is still a new and amorphous enough concept that it's hard to find a simple definition to link to. Wikipedia has almost nothing to say about it. There are technologies and services built around it, like AttentionTrust...

  • New activity, new focus, new tools, new toys!

I intend to start posting again, although the focus will be changing somewhat. I no longer use Flash, it just isn't worth the effort involved and the debugging nightmares to try and build applications with it. We don't use it where I work, and I no longer build apps in it personally, though I may use...

  • MEME: Top 10 Recent Blogs

Back in September, Phil posted on a MEME that didn't get the attention it deserved - what are your Top 10 Recent Blogs ? ...The criteria is purposely vague and very simple. I want you to list ten blogs you've really enjoyed reading recently. Especially the underrated, undiscovered, recent finds. They...
