Google released Google Spreadsheets on June 5th . One of the features of Google spreadsheets is to export and import Excel (xls) files. Google has accomplished this rather easily by using the Java Open API for Excel . After messing with it in my test account, its a pretty cool utility for uploading and...

  • Philly.NET Presentation Went Great!

Last night I was in Malvern to present on Membership and Personalization in ASP.NET 2.0. It was amazing to see that a room full of ASP.NET developers had very little experience with this. Many of the presentations at conferences and user groups are about technology that can be used in the future rather...

  • FireFox 2.0 to Have Extension Blacklist?

I just read somewhere that one of the features that FireFox 2.0 will include is an extension blacklist. The purpose is to help prevent attacks. Really, I see this as being a potential problem. That would seem to allow web compatibility issues to continue. If companies block JavaScript files in an attempt...

  • Resource: Base64 from GIF/JPG/etc

One of the sites I visit frequently to convert images from GIF to a Base64 string is http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp . It's a quick and easy way to do the conversion. It would be pretty nice if VS.net eventually had a conversion tool built in.
