  • Looking for/thinking about a web-based podcatcher client

I've really enjoyed using ther web-based LiteFeeds.com as my RSS reader for blogs, and with the Windows beta release of iPodderX (being able to aggregate RSS feeds for both blogs and podcasts), I've started thinking about what it would take to build a web-based podcatcher client. The hard thing would...

  • Enjoy enhanced podcasts via MMS on your mobile phone

Tea Vui Huang has created MMS Podcast, a slick app to allow enhanced podcasts to be chapterized for playing on a mobile phone via MMS. It's extremely cool. He also previously (like last week) wrote JavaCast , a J2ME MIDlet that allows enhanced podcasts to be enjoyed on Java-enabled phones. MMS Podcast...

  • Software As She's Developed: AJAX-centric podcasts

I've been subscribing to Michael Mamehoff's excellent work with the Software As She's Developed blog/podcast. He previously did an overview of AJAX, one on lazy registration with AJAX , and more recently posted a profile of widgets developed using AJAX patterns . Great stuff.

  • My "brilliant" idea for centralized subscription lists already exists...hello, OPML

I feel like a total goof today...to manage my podcast subscription lists across multiple platforms and on multriple devices, I mentioned before how I'm writing a .NET server to centrally maintain these lists , and then bake-in some additional functionality like being able to mark certain feeds as having...

  • Display podcast metadata in an RSS feed using XSLT

One thing that I like doing while listening to podcasts is reading the metadata contained within a show's RSS feed. Being a geek, I don't mind reading straight XML, but I realize this isn't the most comfortable means of receiving sensory input for most people. So, I built a very simple stylesheet in...

  • Developing a portable/centralized podcast subscription list service

Yesterday I mentioned in my podcast that something I've been thinking about is building a service that would make listener subscription lists (in other words, a collection of URLs pointing to RSS feeds containing podcasts) both portable between devices and centralized to be accesible easily over the...

  • CastBlaster public beta released...and it kicks ass

I may be a few hours and a couple of days behind on this announcement, but I just installed CastBlaster 0.17 , and it rules. It's not got a timeline to do post-production editing, but the fact that you can bring in clips and auto-dip the sound level totally makes my day, and is the one knock I've got...

  • My weekend project - "PalmCatcher", a Java/.NET podcatcher for Palm OS 5

I've been mentioning in my podcast over the last few days ( subscribe to the RSS feed here ) how I've been wanting to help my father get connected to mine and other podcasts on his smartphone, a Sprint version of the Treo 650 . I've had to resort to manually sending my dear old dad SMS text messages...

  • UDDI for podcasts & dynamic recommendation

A major tenet of the discussions within the Podcast Specification Working Group is creating single-click subscription for podcasts, which at the moment still an arduous and non-automated process. (Newbie or not, copying-and-pasting a URL is quite the laborious task). It's been mentioned that perhaps...

  • I joined the Podcast Specification Working Group

I really liked the ideas and motivation that the Podcast Specification Working Group has about developing the medium and overcoming some of the pitfalls that content producers and listeners are facing, so I signed up. After some consideration and stating who I was, what I did, and what I'd bring to the...
