&lt;p&gt;I went through the same problem some weeks ago. The only elegant solution I found at that moment was to use the new Html.RenderAction method extension. In case of the vehicles example, &amp;nbsp;you could have your home page, and make a call to vehicles controller to show the list of vehicles in there. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Using an ActionFilter just for displaying more information does not looks like a good solution to me.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I once had a post about this topic and using Fluent Interfaces I was able to build a very nice way to deal with an inhouse-developed Search Engine at work.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I was able to cut down code-statements to 1/4.&lt;/p&gt;
