Office System 2003 Available on Oct 1st from MSDN
by
Tim Marman
Noticed this blurb on the subscribers site: Office System 2003 Available October 1, 2003 Office System 2003 products will be posted to MSDN Subscriber Downloads on October 1, 2003. Well, it's better than the end of October, but I was hoping for it sooner...

BestBuy is foolish..
by
Tim Marman
Their form doesn't work. I'm drunk, want to buy something, and it insists the form isn't filled out (trust me, I double-checked, it is). They just lost an all important drunk sale. Time to buy from someone else. Actually, time for bed, but that's a separate...

Two weeks with OneNote
by
Tim Marman
The ability to split payees pages and show two at once - for example, one for reference and one for taking class notes - would be nice. In fact, it doesn't even let you open two instances, though I imagine some hack like the side notes would help here...

The case for DataSets
by
Tim Marman
Mark is making the case for using DataSets . In working on frameworks for the past several years, I've had many of these arguments before. The question is always, why should I adhere to your model when I think it has flaws and I think or know I can do...

Electronic textbooks
by
Tim Marman
I bought my textbooks this weekend. Three hardcover books, each 1,200 pages or greater. What really pisses me off, though, is that I wasn't able to purchase them online. They're just not available. I realize there are a whole new set of problems to deal...

Color schemes...
by

Whoever thought to label MSDN DVDs with white text on a yellow background should be shot or fired or otherwise tortured by a means as painful as it is to read that text.

Another Acer in the Class
by
Tim Marman
So there's this girl in my 1L section that also has an Acer C110. (Interestingly, she also happens to be from my town, though a few years younger and I don't think I knew her). The weird thing is, though, that she continues to use is just like a normal...

Amendment to OneNote Wishlist
by
Tim Marman
A few amendments to my previous wishlist . I just discovered the folders, and this addresses my concerns with having multiple levels and saved notebooks. Very good. If you erase words and re-write them, it creates a new ink group. It would be better that...

Blackout of 2003
by
Tim Marman
Chris had an interesting day on Thursday. Glad to hear he finally got home. I had a decidedly different experience. I guess that's one of the nice things living a short 7 minute walk from the office. When I finally realized the extent of the outages and...

OneNote Wishlist
by
Tim Marman
I've been using OneNote for my classes that started last week. While it's pretty good for what I need to do, and it does seem to be good for organization, I of course have my pet peeves. I've had a few complaints. Hopefully some of them get addressed...
