XBox Live disconnects?

I've noticed recently that I started getting disconnected from XBox Live. It connects fine, and I can even make it partially through a game, but in a game of Madden I usually don't make it into the second half. This is a recent problem, as it used to work fine.

I'm using a Time Warner cable connection through a Linksys BEFSW11S4 router (though it's through CAT5 not wireless). I've made sure MTU was set to something above 1365, which was mentioned in one of the FAQs. I'm not running a firewall on my router itself. I have NAT enabled, so I shouldn't need to explicitly forward certain ports back to the XBox.

I haven't been able to find much about connections dropping - only about not being able to connect in the first place.

Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on what I can do to solve it?

Yep. Same router (v2), same cat5 cabling, same problem here. Disconnects happen about every 15 minutes. I tried downgrading the router's firmware on the advice of some other site, but the disconnects still persist. The problem seems to be either that the router isn't fully compatible with Live, or M$ has a problem at their end.

From what I've seen so far researching this issue, many befw11s4 owners are experiencing this same disconnect problem. M$ remains silent on the matter.

Try a direct connection to the cable modem. If the problem goes away, it's likely a router compatibility issue. (I've exhausted the router config options, so I doubt it's a config issue.) If the disconnects persist  after directly connecting to the modem, it's likely a server-side issue.

You'd *think* Micro$oft would have tested the ten most popular routers in circulation before releasing Live. (ha. ha. ha.)
