  • Web Tools Or Tools For Web People

A couple of days ago, I got an email from the guys at DebugBar letting me know that they had just released their Beta1 for Debug Bar 5.0. They've got a pretty good tool bar for doing web design and web development in IE. Their DebugBar adds features like a DOM Inspector, an HTTP Inspector, a JavaScript Console and Inspector, an HTML Validator among other things. It's free for personal use, and the commercial license is easy to obtain. There are a couple of other tools worth pointing out as well Fiddler2 a web debugging proxy written by one of the PM's on the IE team IE Developer Tool Bar the Microsoft IE Developer Toolbar. There's lots of info on it here IE6 and IE7 Virtual PC images Visual Web Developer Express 2008 has great JavaScript debugging...
  • IE, Firefore and Opera On Stage Together

I often forget to blog about some of the cool events I attend until it's a little too late, but hey, better than blogging about it after the fact, when people can't even try to show up right? Tomorrow, Chris Wilson and I are headed down to San Jose for an event put on by the Silicon Valley Web Builders for a session that they're calling Browser Wars: Episode II Attack of the DOMs . Beside the name being something that bugs me a bit, this is going to be a fantastic event! This is one of the few times that Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera have been on stage together to talk about where the web goes next, and what their visions are for the future. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what Chris has to say. Chris and I sat down on Monday...
  • IE Web Designer and Web Developer Web Casts & Chats

Before shipping IE7, we had regular “expert chats” where we provided you with an opportunity to ask questions and get more information about IE7 and its many features. Now that we’ve shipped, we’re going to start bringing back regular events for web developers and web designers. Every Thursday at 10am PST, we will be running either a web cast or web chat of some kind. The topics will range from CSS to RSS to HTML to AddOn Development, anything that you might find interesting. In fact, if you have any ideas, I encourage you to leave them as comments and we’ll try to arrange a webcast or chat around one[Kristen Kibble] of your suggestions. We’ll also make sure to vary the depth, for example, one week we may do an intro to a topic, and then a few...
  • CSS Celebrates 10 years and Problems With BHOs & Tool Bars?

We just moved into our new building here on campus (we moved from 42 (good) to 17 (not so good)). I've spent most of the day unpacking so far, and haven't gotten much else done yet. Though I'm back to a window office. I'm right at the edge here on getting a window office. I've been here 5.5 years, and 5 seems to be about the magic number for this tema. The question now becomes how long will I get to keep it until someone more senior comes along. In any event, this new building is interesting. The view out of my window is great, the fact that I CANNOT find the stairs for the life of me, drives me up the wall. I'm the kind of guy who doesn't like taking an elevator for less than 5 floors. I'm on the third, so I'd rather take the stairs. In this...
