  • Silverlight Mac\Windows debugging play-by-play

Martin saw my keynote at ReMix Boston and wanted to try the demo himself to find out if it was all just demo-magic or not ;-). Well, I am relieved happy to say he was successful! His detailed step-by-step instructions are the best I have seen for setting this up. Windows Vista / Mac debugging a Silverlight app using Visual Studio 2008 Maybe we can talk Martin into doing the Linux part of the demo over the new year holiday ;-) Read More...
  • Brad Abrams' DotNotRocks Interview

I love the DNR guys .. They have a great show and I was fortunate enough to be able to talk in person to Carl Franklin at ReMixBoston . While I know the show is not exactly Steely Dan's "Home At Last" , it was a lot of fun. The argentiferous part of the show starts at about 11:00 I talked a bit about the end to end demo I did at ReMixBoston.. We talked some about where Silverlight 1.0 is great (Video), where Silverlight 1.1 will really take off (RIAs) I talked some about where the developer experience is going wrt to web application and Silverlight development is going.. Purely my personal thoughts, but maybe interesting.. We also touched on the developer\designer story we have now and how we can grow into the designer world... I had a chance...
  • Silverlight Showcase updated...

We have some great wins with Silverlight 1.0... A few I showed off at ReMix Boston were The HSN folks are doing live streaming, plus you get a "Buy" button that takes you to their ecommerice site with the product information already filled in. In addition you can watch sales pitches from earlier in the day based on your preferences.. this gives you a chance to control your viewing experience. Very cool stuff. I also love this Emmys .. site... It gives you very smooth access to a wide range of video sorted and cataogrized... I love how video is deeply embedded in the app... Now you can see the full show case ... I love the fact that you can even add your own and rate other items.. If you have (or see) a cool Silverlight site, add it! Go through...

  • ReMix Boston Keynote thoughts...

I had a great time at the keynote today. The audience was very engaged and the partners that came up for demos add a lot of value. If you where there, I'd love to hear from you. If you could not make it, we are working on getting the video up on the net soon, stay tuned! I kicked it off by talking about the "balances" we are faced with in the industry today... PC vs. Web, Device vs. PC, Software vs. Services, Consumer vs. IT, On-site vs. Hosted... The list goes on. For most of us, there is not real choice to be made in each of these cases. The answer is clearly both in just about every case. Yes, you need to think about both PC and web, you need to think about software and services. Putting your head in the sand on any one of these can a serious...
