Silverlight over VWG: lets you develop using simple WinForms API, and eliminates the restricting client dependency resulting in an ultra powerful UI.

Silverlight MP Barak Cohen, refers to the new possibility as more powerful UI for Silverlight, and enabling veteran, known and tested, best of breed (MS's ) programming  API and methodologies for new technology development. Read more from Barak's blog: here.

This is Visual WebGui new generation technology.

The VWG simplicity in programing by absraction of the web development hassles, and productivity is now extended to support Silverlight programming, without any compromises on SilverLight rich media capabilities, including full Expression Blend enablement, and some WPF utilities enabled as well.

VWG offers a  very short learning curve adaptation path to Silverlight.

It also enables the two alternative presentation layers; DHTML or Silverlight. Develop once and deploy dually. By a switch of a button it can be Silverlight or DHTML.
This feature might ease adaptation as it enables default access for those who don’t have SL installed. It could make life, and buying in on SL, easier as you don’t have to give up on potential access from standard DHTML, in case God forbid, SL doesn’t catch up, or as a gap stopper till it does..

Silverlight over VWG value is mainly for Line-Of-Business application enabling VWG server side data connectivity and very rich client, without client dependency. Client footprint remains light regardless of the application size and weight.

By not exposing data, logic, IP and such, on client, and by not opening any services on the server side for client consumption, you get the value of secured-by-design architecture which is critical for enterprise applications.
