How we got here - The ASP.NET Podcast from Wally McClure's standpoint.
I was listening to Jason's Digital Pontification last night, and it kinda got me thinking that it might be confusing for folks as what we are, so I thought I would throw out my personal timeline as to how we got here as far as I know it.
December, 2004 - I was listening to some webcasts on Sql Server Yukon and Whidbey. I got jealous and wanted to figure out how I could do a recurring webcast as oppossed to a one time MS Webcast. I kept the idea in the back of my head for working on after our ADO.NET book is completed.
late February to early March, 2005 - I posted some questions to some of the aspadvice lists regarding how to do video blogging. I came away with the idea that it was doable, but I was still unsure as to how to proceed. I got a response from someone saying something about podcasting. I thought about it, but I wanted to do more video than audio.
April, 2005 - I started listening to Jason Salas's Digital Pontification. He said something about doing an ASP.NET podcast. I emailed and said "Hey, I'm in." Paul Glavich, Buddy Lindsey, and a few others express interest.
May, 2005 - I started doing some audio clips and getting content in DC, Atlanta, and at Microsoft. I decided to do an podcast published on an irregular schedule on .NET development issues outside of the ASP.NET area. I published two podcasts to get my feet wet and learn how to do things correctly. My strength is in the technical area. When it comes to just talking,.........did I mention that I can do the technology stuff really well?
June, 2005.- We put together our first official ASP.NET podcast, and my third on .NET, so I just call it episode #3. Jason sends me an email that says that he won't be able to do it because of his other commitments. I wish that Jason was able to continue and I understand his reasons. I really appreciate how much he pimps me on this show. I feel embarrassed because he does so much for me (seriously), and I am not quite sure what to do for him. Jason Gaylord and Steve Smith express interest.
So, here we are.
