MIAMI (AP) -- Blitzing on almost every play, Georgia Tech was in Kyle Wright's face all night. And when he threw the ball up for grabs with the game on the line, the Yellow Jackets were there, too.

They sacked Wright seven times and made two late defensive stands, intercepting his final pass to upset the third-ranked Miami Hurricanes 14-10 Saturday night.

"Not anyone believed it could happen," Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said.

Ok, this was a complete surprise.  Clearly Miami has better talent.  GT should not even have been in this game, especially after Tech stunk it up last week at Virginia.  I didn't realistically think that Tech could win until there were about 6 minutes to go in the game.  In addition, GT had two major problems this week:

  • GT was placed on probation for the first time in the school's history.  The only thing I read about was the limiting of scholarships to 79 for two years.
  • GT was ordered by a federal court judge to reinstate a player that was arrested with a significant amount of drugs over the summer.  He had been expelled from school and kicked off the team.
