DDL for Full-Text Setup

Hmmm, nice.  With Sql Server 2005, Microsoft will introduce DDL statements to managed full-text indexes and catalogs.

  • CREATE FULLTEXT CATALOG...........
  • CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX.............
  • ALTER FULLTEXT INDEX...............

It looks like the system stored procedures are still there, but that it is being suggested that you use the DDL when you move upto Sql Server 2005.

Most importantly for improved functionality (as well as for performance), ACCENT_SENSITIVITY (on or off) as this is a critical requirement for effective use of SQL FTS with any non-English (especially, Spanish & French) languages!
