JavaOne One
So, I'm in the JavaOne Gaming Center. I never played a Java game, but if you attend JavaOne it seems that there are Java Games everywhere.
Some general comments... Food... In TechEd there was food at any place, any time (and any device? ;). Yesterday there was an attendee reception and the run out of food. It was fun, because it seems they had some resource management architectural issue ;). They brought food, in 5 mins the food was over, 5 minutes later there brought more food, 5 mins it was over, etc. After 40 mins it was really over. Now we are in a two hour break and I have to pay to get a coffee ;).
In the first general session Microsoft was mentioned twice and DotNet once, but they were references to them all the time, like saying that Java is really everywhere, everytime, etc. There were also some indirect references to IBM and SWT when they talked about keeping Java compatibility.
They showed some Java games in cell phones, some interesting demos with a Tablet PC, etc.
The more interesting news is that there is a new Java logo, that they plan to brand like the 'Intel Inside' logo, and put it in everything that is Java enabled or Java powered (phones, etc). They also have a new consumer-oriented site featuring Christina Aguilera and a gotdotnet-like site. They also plan to integrate better their mobile APIs, which are way too complex, in a simpler model, more similar to J2SE.
