El Crimen del Padre Amaro

Note: this entry has moved.

This movie was nominated for the best foreign languave movie Oscar award this year. It didn't won, but I'm surprised it even got that far. It's a very good film, but with a hard topic (the Church and the humans that represent it) and a crude way of telling the story. It's beatifully told, don't misunderstand me, but it surely pissed-off many. I was left with general sad feeling and contradictory thoughts about the characters.
Highly recommended, and a big congratulation for mexican cinematography, which is getting better and better (I have good memories of Amores Perros and Y tu mama tambien, not surprisingly with the same main actor, the young and talentous Gael GarcĂa Bernal).
I also remember La Ley de Herodes, a hilarious and sardonic movie about the politicians world.
