Blogs are a fad

Just finished reading this piece:

I guess that I had been wondering the same kinds of things myself lately, in no particular order:

1. How can I make money out of this?
2. Is this what happens when standards are enforced?
3. How long has this been so popular?

Ultimately, I think that blogging is an evolution of what came before it and what came before that, and, as such is just a path that we travel until we get to the next cool thing.  I think that blogging came about because the mixture of people and new technology found a new meeting spot :-)
