re: Remote Happiness
Just read a happy, true story about Remoting here [mads studentblog] :-)
I agree that Remoting and COM are scary things for Morts like us, but that, ultimately the .NET Framework has made them pretty easy to use. For me, the biggest difficulty in creeping out of my comfort zone lies in identifying the "right" time to implement a Remoting solution (for example) over a Web solution (say). There's always that nagging fear that you're gonna spend 8 hours learning to implement the Remoting solution only to find out that it doesn't work and then have to go back an implement the WebService one! Who do you bill that to :-)
Bottom line: you do stuff and you learn stuff.
