As the person whose IM conversation was reposted here, let me add my hearty agreement. The person who posted it meant well, and no harm was done, so I didn't get too bent out of shape about it. But had the conversation had anything in it that wasn't intended for public consumption, it's likely that at the very least that person would have ended up banned from IM'ing me.

I would also add that the same rule applies to emails you've received. You should always consider emails private, unless the person emailing you explicitly states otherwise, or you get permission. Quoting someone's email in a public place without permission is a good way to get plonked.
