Microsoft just published some rules regarding figheting unwanted e-mail (spam):
Learn to hide your e-mail address from spammers.
- Be careful about disclosing your e-mail address
- Set up an e-mail address dedicated solely to Web transactions
- Only share your primary e-mail address with people you know
- Disguise (or "munge") your e-mail address
- Watch out for checked boxes
Handling unwanted e-mail (spam)
- Don't reply to e-mail asking for personal information
- Don't buy anything from a spam mail
- Never, ever contribute to a charity from spam mail.
- Think twice before opening attachments, even if you know the sender.
- Don't forward chain e-mail messages.
- If you're using MSN Hotmail, report junk e-mail before you even open it.
- Forward spam to the spammer's Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- File a complaint with U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). (file your complaint.)
