More on SForce

"Marc Benioff is out to prove that the current crop of enterprise applications is destined for the scrap heap. During a Face to Face interview, Benioff told ZDNet's Dan Farber that his mission is to destroy enterprise software as it exists today. So far, the 38-year-old former Oracle executive and Larry Ellison protege hasn't destroyed the traditional software model, but the company he founded four years ago as a utility-like, on demand software service is gaining converts. "

"Today salesforce.com hosts customer relationship management software for more 6,400 accounts and 86,000 active users in 110 countries paying about $65 per month, according to the company. Blue chip customers include AOL/Time Warner, Avis/Budget, Cigna, General Electric, General Motors, and Nokia. The company is on track to generate $100 million in revenue for this year--double from the previous year--and earn a profit. In our interview, Benioff talks about his business model, strategy for acquiring customers, the competitive landscape, and his vision for the future of software."

Pretty lofty goals... but hey, maybe Ellison rubbed off on this guy? Oracle is the most currently profitable software company in the world, right? ;-)
