It's been way too long since my last post

I have not blogged in about 3 months. I have been so caught up in the design and rollout of a new system at Cox Communications where I am consulting here in Atlanta. Our directive was to supplant the existing system with a new system that enables the sale of bundled products and services.

While on the project I had the pleasure of working with some really great people that really should blogging. They have some great technical insights to share....I have to say that there is a such big difference in leading the architecture and design of a new system when you have top-notch people to work with. It challenges everyone on the team to keep up and continually contribute. It also prevents people from slacking and taking the easy way out when they know that in any given moment someone will go "what the f##$" are you doing here. Surprisingly we had very few of these moments given the size of the application.

Prior to this new system, the underpinnings of the system were being used to enable quite a few web services for Interactive TV, Telephony and other systems. We are now using the framework and libraries to power this application to sell to many other channels. A nice feature of the system is that we created an additional layer to help push presentation to different user interfaces whether it be the Web or a TV set. I hope to blog about some of the technical details in the near future....but for now I am just happy to catch my breath and start blogging again.
