Information architecture – the black ship?
As I already wrote my employer form several teams to deal
with architecture. While we had tremendous progress in the infrastructure, business and system
architecture teams we seem to go very slow with the
information team. At first sight I was sure that it won’t
be any trouble to deal with information architecture but
as the time pass is became more and more difficult to deal
with.
First of all the level of abstraction is pretty high,
which is not helping us at all. Then the amount of data
regarding Information architecture is pretty low.
Especially when you are looking for models for organize
information by types of users, types of information (core
vs. administrative ) and map those classifications into
systems.
I get the feeling that as much as infrastructure
architecture is the most develop one, Information
architecture is the black ship in that family.
