Can't open Project - Unexpected error occurred during command execution

I have been experiencing problems each time I wanted to open a project file from Project Server 2007.

I am using Project Professional 2007 with SP2.

The error message was always the same ‘generic’ one:

 

“Unexpected error occurred during command execution”

 

Verify that all arguments names and valuees are correct and are of the correct type.

 

You may have run out of memory. To free up available memory, close programs, Projects, or windows that you are not using. "

 

 

I found very few information and nothing useful for me.  

Then, I realized that I also had Project Professional 2010 installed despite I didn’t use it to connect to Project Server 2007 (as this is not supported).
 

Conclusion: the problem was having both 2007 and 2010 versions of Project installed on my machine. I removed Project 2010 and everything started to work fine.
