Did you know…THAT records CAN BE ASSIGNED TO TEAMS in dynamics crm 2011?

Hi,

One of the limitations we had in Dynamics CRM 4 was that records could only be assigned to an active user. That means that only users could own records.

If somebody else needed to work with that record (i.e. an account) the owner had to share it manually or the user who needs to work with it must belong to a role with business unity records visibility (meaning that he/she will have access to all records belonging to any user of that business unity).

This also may not be suitable in scenarios where records are owned / managed by an area instead of a particular user or where people rotation is pretty frequent.

So, this has been pretty improved in Dynamics CRM 2011 and now, teams can own records. Therefore. to control access to the record, the user just will need to be a member of that team. Removing access can be achieved easily by removing the membership to the team and no re-assignments are needed.
