Bridging the gap between .NET and J2EE

In his article David Longworth talk about interoperability between J2EE and .Net.
What I liked to read there is a sort of neutral point of view on the subject, putting Java and .Net on their real application and strength.

For David .Net win certainly in the productivity area, where J2EE seems to be overcomplicated for many.

Of course the deployment area is a field for some rough battles, where for the moment .Net has some disadvantages.

The part I challenge is about the requirement for gurus with knowledge of both environments.

I don't believe in some expert of such different platforms. As David mention, they are people who charge thousand of dollars a day.

In a complex enterprise infrastructure, isn't it better to have many talents in each area ? With their own expertise ?

I remember few years ago working with a Corba expert, and we use to have great time, because we respect our knowledge each other and manage to build a complex financial product from the Web to the mainframe without any glitch.

We were using a sort of 'pre' webservices and a lot of  MSMQ to make our different systems working together.

An omniscience specialist would probably screwed the project by putting too much on a high level expertise without giving a real world solution.

And are we sure that these kind of 'super' specialists exists really ;-)
