Interview with Clare Dillon
In case you don’t know who is Clare Dillon, she’s the person I stay in touch almost every day regarding the organisation of community events in Ireland. Clare is surely the most dynamic person I ever met in Microsoft, and she show her ‘vavavoom’ in this interview with Damien Mulley.
Her stance about the women place in our IT world is something quite interesting:

I look at the trend in web development and it does give me hope - there are many more girls in those companies than in other tech companies …Why?… Probably because of the extra elements of design involved. The same skills will be required in all tech companies in the medium term. I see demos of Avalon in the next generation of Windows and you can see all sorts of possibilities opening up different types of graphical UI. And the tools are getting easier to use all the time - most tech demos with Visual Studio 2005 are mostly drag and drop - all of this makes programming much more accessible to folks who wouldn’t have considered it otherwise. Interfaces and presentation of information should rely more heavily on visuals - and for that to be a pleasurable experience we need a lot of people with good taste building the applications - a history of successful accessorizing would probably help! …
