Vista far away from being ready ?
Well if 'VIP' like Scott Hanselman have issues on the reliability of the latest Vista RC1, that doesn't sound very good at all.
Scott seems to have a lot of issues with the RC1, like blue screen, a lot of software and hardware compatibilities issues, etc..
Abstract from Scott post:
"
Crap crap crap. My totally-stable-for-four-years machine
is now blue screening daily under Vista. This is getting
irritating.
Disclaimer: I'm pissed, so I'm blogging in frustration. I'm still stoked about Vista, I'm just not stoked about the new computer I'm going to have to buy if I can't get this one to work.
Notice my declining stability in the Reliability and
Performance Monitor in the image at right? This isn't
looking good and it's only been 10 days. Sigh. That's what
I get for being an early adopter of RC1
Beta4.
This is very frustrating. My guts tells me that this is a race condition in the menu handler of Win32k.sys, but that was supposed to have been fixed year ago.
"
This is really worrying only few months from the
not-yet-announced release date. I am myself a Vista beta
tester and my own experience has been so far not that
positive.
Like Scott I got trouble with a lot of
software and drivers, and the only machine I could use
without too much damages is an old (2 years old) Dell
desktop PC. So obviously no fancy Aero or other cool
stuff.
After reading Scott post, no way I will install
Vista at this stage on my brand new Vaio on which my life
depends!
