My Presentation Last Night
I should have blogged about this sooner but I've been so busy lately. Compuware hosted an IT Exchange Forum last night at their headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. I was contacted by Compuware's Mary Johnson as a possible speaker. After trading emails and getting the details, I had the date open and told her I could present. The night went great!
First off, I was pleasantly surprised that Compuware was not using this as a recruiting night. There was only one small table with some Compuware brochures -- and I didn't even notice the table until someone pointed it out to me. They provided us (speakers and attendees) with dinner and some "networking" time and then we had the presentations. No sales pitch!
I took this opportunity to dust off my 10-minute GROK talk on Generics and turn it into a full one hour presentation. I was pleased with my slide deck and the presentation went very well. I had good audience participation and some really great questions that helped clarify the topic.
Compuware expressed an interested in doing these "IT Exchange Forums" quarterly. So if you're close to the metro-Detroir/Ann Arbor area, keep an eye out for the next one.
