Blogging the AZDNUG: CodeSmith - Part 1
[6:45pm]
I'm sitting at InterfaceTT, next to new MVP Scott Cate, watching a presentation about code generation with CodeSmith. I know there are several regulars who are not here tonight, so I figured I'd try out blogging this event live for their sake.
Our presenter for the day is Ish Singh, and he works for Intel here in Chandler. First off, CodeSmith is a customizable, template-based code generator. I watched, and within 3 minutes, he created SQL script with all the SPROCS for a given table. The UI is very VS.NET-like, and seems to be very straightforward. Ish is doing a very good job in his talk, and I'm told that he's been preparing it for several months.
Anyways, right now he's showing us the templates themselves. It's very ASP-like, which is interesting. I'm not really sure how I feel about that yet, but I'm going to give it a shot and reserve my judgement on that till the very end.
