Software development & Baseball
Jon Udell has a nice piece [InfoWorld 09.19.03] on software development & baseball. A very fitting analogy as both ventures need serious teamwork to be successful. The onus really is on the team manager who should know not only how to play ball but the players themselves. The 'Not Invented Here (NIH)' syndrome is still pervasive and that kills reusability, worse still is another phenomena - 'Not Invented in my Cubicle (NIC)' that also exists in development shops.
