I like
Joel Spolsky's
postings as they are certainly thought provoking and at
times quite argumentative -
my recent posting generated a couple of thousand hits & still counting!
His
recent posting giving 'college advice'
is most interesting and I hope it is followed (and adhered
to) by the readers. I would like to add one fact that is
grossly overlooked - in this IT profession, be prepared to
go back to school to learn something new, perhaps often.
That's the nature of this industry and profession - it's
dynamic with everchanging technologies that demands that you
keep up. Going back to school may mean technical
certifications (eg.,
MCAD/MCSD/MCDBA) or more business-like (eg.,
PMP / MBA) - all depending
upon your career track.
