Microsoft releases MVC 1.0, Silverlight 3.0 Beta 1, and Expression Blend 3.0 preview

Hi,

With the start of MIX Microsoft has release a bunch of developer productive tools. I am trying to put all in this post with links to the respective page.

Microsoft has launched the release version of MVC 1.0. You can download it right now here.  Also check out Phil Haack’s post on the release.

MSDN Documentation for MVC is also now available and the following link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=145989

Like earlier years, Mix 09 also came with announcement of Silverlight 3.0 Beta. It is a preview release which continues Silverlight’s track record of rapid innovation - introducing more than 50 new features, including support for running Silverlight applications out of the browser, dramatic video performance and quality improvements, and features that radically improve developer productivity.

You can get the MSDN offline docs here. The CHM is nice if you're offline plus it's faster than the online content, has an index, and only contains Silverlight content.

Microsoft also released the Silverlight 3.0 tools beta and can be downloaded here.

This installer includes:

  • Silverlight 3 Beta SDK
  • Silverlight 3 Beta Developer Runtime for debugging
  • XAP Compression Improvements
  • Support for Caching Transparent Platform Extensions
  • New Page and Project Templates

Microsoft has also released the preview of the next version of Expression Blend (3.0). The preview will work with Silverlight 3.0 and can be downloaded here.

Silverlight Toolkit has been updated to provide an updated to Silverlight 2 controls, a new release for Silverlight 3 Beta controls, and a new themes gallery.  All of these can be downloaded at the Silverlight Toolkit CodePlex project site.

Microsoft also .NET RIA Services  which simplifies the traditional n-tier application pattern by bringing together the ASP.NET and Silverlight platforms.

Regards
